Qualifications

Must have an HND or equivalent in electronic/electrical engineering or relevant working engineering experience.
A minimum of 5 years’ postgraduate work experience in a similar design role
Experience in schematics design utilizing industry recognised design software, for example AutoCAD, SolidWorks, EPLAN.
Experience with electrified vehicle powertrain systems, off-road electrical systems design.
Ability to read and create detailed electrical drawings
Detailed knowledge of current regulations and electrical design standards
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well independently and in a team.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Must have good technical drawing skills.
Must have experience of drafting to electrical standards.

We’re looking a passionate and forward-thinking Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing team. You’ll design, test and validate functional and robust electrical systems driving a sustainable future for GSE.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical circuit schematics, harnesses and panel layouts to applicable internal and industry standards and legislative requirements.
  • Create technical documentation including design specifications, work instructions, parts list, list of critical parts and maintenance components.
  • Conduct simulations and other engineering analyses to guide and verify designs and specify the electrical and electronic components for use in the vehicle system.
  • Liaise with cross department teams to fully realise design boundaries to helping to identify technical solutions to realise design and achieve “right first time” approach.
  • Develop electrical solutions by studying customer requirements, researching and testing components and determining overall system integration.
  • Communicate requirements and work with PLC Software Engineers to develop controls strategies for powertrain and driveline components and systems.
  • Working on projects to expand the current product range and bring new products to the market.
  • Assures product quality by designing electrical testing methods; testing finished products and system capabilities.
  • Understanding of safety critical systems and the application to electrical and electronics systems design
  • Provide Engineering support and technical answers in accordance with internal standards.
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with regulations.
  • Any other duties as required by the Line Manager to suit business needs.

  • Adherence to company health and safety procedures.
