To mark World Engineering Day 2024, leading ground support equipment (GSE) manufacturer, Mallaghan, welcomed local students to its Dungannon headquarters, providing the next generation with an insight into its innovative operations.
Pupils from St. Patrick’s College, Dungannon, Integrated College, Dungannon, and St Catherine’s College, Armagh, took part in a factory tour where they had the opportunity to learn about Mallaghan’s history, its diverse range of products, and the wide variety of career opportunities available within the engineering sector.
Fiona Morgan, Chief People Officer at Mallaghan, commented:
“We are always very pleased to welcome students from local schools to our Dungannon headquarters, and what better occasion than World Engineering Day.
“At Mallaghan, we understand that young people are key to the future of our industry, and by opening our doors to these pupils, we hope to ignite a passion for engineering and encourage them to pursue careers in this dynamic field.
During their visit, students heard from Mallaghan’s current apprentices about their career journey so far and how the work they do is helping to support the company’s continued growth.
Students also learned more about Mallaghan’s variety of market-leading products, including its extensive electric portfolio and the new all-electric SkyBelt, a pioneering belt loader with features and accessories that make it the most technically advanced belt loader on the market.
Laura McGrath, also added:
“We are proud to have our apprentices play an integral role in inspiring future engineers, sharing more about their experience at Mallaghan and providing insight into what a career in engineering can look like.
“It has been wonderful to connect with both students and their teachers and I would like to thank Mid Ulster MEGA (Manufacturing and Engineering Growth and Advancement) for its invaluable support in helping us to forge lasting links with local schools.
“We look forward to continuing to play our part in inspiring the next generation of engineers and encouraging ongoing innovation.
